When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything: Do You Need Motivation—or Do You Need Rest?

Have you ever had one of those days when you just don’t want to do anything—but you also don’t want to do nothing?

That was me today. I had things I wanted to accomplish, I knew I should exercise, and I wanted to feel motivated… but I just couldn’t seem to get myself going. Eventually, I decided to lie down, slept for two hours, and woke up feeling so much better.

It made me wonder: how often do we assume we need more discipline when what we actually need is rest?

In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about the difference between being unmotivated, overwhelmed, and genuinely tired. We’ll talk about why rest is an important part of homemaking, why you don’t have to earn your rest, and how to recognize when you need to push yourself a little—and when you need to give yourself permission to stop.

Because good homemaking isn’t about squeezing the maximum amount of productivity out of every day. It’s about wisely caring for your home, your family, your time, your energy—and yourself.

If you’d like more encouragement and practical ideas for creating a cozy, intentional home, I’d love to have you join my Cozy Homemaker Circle on Facebook. It’s a community for women who want to grow in homemaking, simplify home life, and find more joy and purpose in the everyday.
